It's not just about you

Really, Shelly didn't know if she had the stamina for all this with Odin. She hadn't expected to get him home drunk and then spend most of the night worried if he'd choke on his own vomit.

"What's gotten into you?" She did her best to keep him awake, but it was no good. He snoozed right through it.

She had a good mind to call Mia and see if she was dealing with the same crap she was, but decided it was best to just get on with things and call it a day or whatever. As it was, she felt like a zombie. And then to get a text from Kate, really took her by surprise.

"You up?' She'd texted. Naturally, Shelly called her right away.

"What is it?" Shelly sighed as if she would always be there for Kate.

"We've had a falling out," Kate was in tears. "He's left for Florida."

"Florida?" Oh, she knew it was about Brad. "How did it happen?" Suddenly, Shelly was wide-eyed and awake. She knew Odin wasn't going anywhere, floundering in bed at the moment.

"I don't want to talk about it," Kate blubbered. Only Shelly knew she did. She wouldn't have wanted to talk, otherwise.

"I'm sure you'll win him back," Shelly told her. She always did in the end. "I'm sure he won't be gone long."

"But what if he is?" Kate didn't sound well. "Can you move back in?"

"What?" Shelly felt a little nauseous. "It's too late for that, isn't it?" Shelly scowled. Really, she'd put too much on the line for her best friend. And now Kate was not as amazing as Shelly had always thought. Shelly had Odin and Mia...even Stu.

"But I need to make the rent," Kate would have to put it in a real perspective.

"Sorry, I can't." Shelly couldn't help but say. After all, Kate really wasn't there for her. She never had been.

  2. Interesting turn of events with Kate. Although she's indeed in a tight spot, I understand why Shelly wouldn't want to drop everything to move in with her. I wonder who Kate's new roommate will be?

Such a cute vest in the collage! It reminds me of Hansel and Gretel. 🤎
