I don't want you to get lost

Stu knew he'd worn out his welcome. He could see Shelly disapproved of him. It was that look she gave him when she watched him eat the meat off his knife. But he didn't care. He went on with dinner. Odin made the best of it.

He didn't think it would last. He even said it to Mia once Odin gathered up Shelly and her things and were off on their way.

"What do you mean it won't last?" Mia looked Stu over, unamused as she paid the bill.

"Oh, this thing they are having. Once it's lost its luster it'll be over." He got ready to go, into the night. Soon he found they were walking the same way.

"They're sweet together," Mia told him. "Surely they'll be happy."

"I don't think Shelly can be happy," Stu decided.

"What?" Mia practically laughed at him. "What are you? Telling fortunes, are you."

Stu almost snickered back, but he looked Mia in the eye. "I don't know why you care so much."

"Why shouldn't I?" Mia didn't really look at him as they crossed the night street. It wasn't so busy now.  It was time to go in and possibly go to bed. But Stu hated the thought. He didn't like being alone. Of course, he wasn't all that crazy about being with Mia, but he'd take it.

"It's nothing." He told her he was sorry he brought it up. Honestly, he wasn't sure he could say anything right at this point. He'd be left alone soon enough. Maybe he could hang out at the pub and play a few darts. Yes, that was his kind of nightlife.

Finally, they arrived at her flat. and to his surprise, Mia asked if he'd like to come up.

"Sure," Stu said. After all, he wondered how a single lass like Mia lived. Of course, on the way up the dingy stairwell, he did wonder what was he asking for? Could she read minds? Would she fling him against the wall and have her way with him? The thought filled him with laughter.

Of course, she put on the kettle as soon as they arrived. The apartment gave a bohemian vibe as if Mia was carefree and into her roots. It was much more colorful than he imagined. But then again she did wear bright colors.

"I think we should be friends," Mia said when she got the brew ready.

"Friends?" Stu winced back, but he drank the creamed tea as if it might help him stay awake all night.

"Your Odin's mate and Shelly needs me," Mia said.

"I don't think she really needs you," Stu shrugged and took another sip of tea on Mia's sweet couch. He really didn't want to make himself at home, but he could.

  1. I like this blossoming friendship between Mia and Stu. And I love this part: "Stu knew he'd worn out his welcome. He could see Shelly disapproved of him. It was that look she gave him when she watched him eat the meat off his knife." What a visual!

I adore this yellow boho collage. What a great way to show us Mia's apartment!
