Shelly was doing her best to make this happen. Wasn't that what Mia wanted? Oh, how she wanted to go round and round on every little thing at the shop, but just as Odin reminded her....Shelly needed help.
Of course, there was WHERE THE CRAWDADS SING on exhibit. True, it was just a table with a lot of books.
"Do crawdads even sing?" Shelly said. Of course, it didn't stop Mia from standing a few more books up.
"What?" She looked at her puzzled.
"Crawdads?"
"Aren't they a lot like a prawn?" Mia said she'd never been to the states. "I'm sure they sing softly."
"Never?" Shelly was curious. "I thought you went abroad to study?" Shelly looked at her wide-eyed as if she was suspicious.
"Why would I lie to you?" Mia wanted to know.
"Nevermind." Shelly went to make tea. There was coffee, but Shelly wasn't touching it. Besides, it was for customers. She looked around the little place. There was so much Mia wanted, but still, it was so small. Yet, quaint to Mia.
"I'm going to ask Stu if we can purchase some sweets to sell from the bake shop," Mia told her. "It might help."
"You two are really getting close, are you?" Shelly wanted to know after she got her brew going and just a cloud of milk in it with a bit of sugar.
"I suppose?" Mia was making her rounds at the other displays. One for BACK TO SCHOOL CLASSICS and another for the youngsters into chapter books.
Mia looked at her with a smile. "Are you that curious?"
"I don't know what you see in him, anyway," Shelly scowled. Partially, she wished she'd let the tea brew more or added another bag. She did have the cheap stuff.
"He's a fox," she smiled which turned into a smirk.
Shelly thought she might be seething. Really, how had this happened?
I would love to work in a bookstore.

ReplyDeleteInteresting post! Greetings. :D
ReplyDeleteHmm. Shelly doesn't seem pleased about Mia and Stu: "Shelly thought she might be seething. Really, how had this happened?" I wonder when she'll tell Mia. On another note, I like Mia's idea of selling baked goods at the bookshop. Who doesn't crave a jelly donut with a side of true crime? π©π
ReplyDeleteNunca trabalhei numa loja, deve ser interessante.
